BUNKER PLAY-
As I play with members each week, I notice that one of the shots that always gives them trouble is bunker play. Sometimes taking a little different approach can help. Rather than focusing on how close you can get to the flag, focus on just getting the ball out of the bunker. Here are a few tips:
- Open your stance - This will allow for a more outside in swing path and will also has a more descending angle of approach.
- Open your club face - Opening the club face allows the bounce of the club to just skim the sand rather than dig into the sand.
- DO NOT HIT THE BALL - Try to remove a dollar bill sized swath of sand from the bunker without hitting the ball.
These are a few things you can try that will help you become a better bunker player.
