State of the Course 2012

As the 2012 season is fast approaching, I thought this would be a great time to talk about what's happening at JW Parks this season. I wanted to touch on some specific topics: course conditions, growth of the game, and the lesson tee. I am excited about the opportunities that will be available at JW Parks this season.

Course conditions: This winter I have had many people ask me about the lack of snow cover and all the rain. How will it effect the course in the spring? Will the turf survive the ice? Time will tell for sure how the lack of snow and all the rain will effect turf conditions. I can tell you that over Christmas vacation Gavin and I played 9 holes and the greens were covered with a sheet of ice. The very next day Gavin played again and the greens had thawed out and were very soft. Mother nature is not controllable, however I think we are positioned to have great turf conditions again this season.

Growth of the Game: As we look forward at JW Parks and the golf industry, we need to create more playing opportunities for all abilities. I will be conducting 'Get Golf Ready" clinics again this season. I have also joined the PGA of America Junior Sports Academy. We will also be offering a three hole rate for mornings from 5am to 7am for $5.00 green fees and family golf on Saturdays and Sundays after 5pm for $5.00 per player. Stay tuned for more information about the exciting new programs.

The Lesson Tee: 2011 marked the most lessons that I have given at JW Parks Golf Course. I am looking forward to giving more this year. I have been spending a lot of time researching the "modern" golf swing and how to achieve that swing. With all the new technology, and the addition of our golf studio "the old golf shop" we will be able to focus not only on the swing but fitness also. Click Here for more information about golf lessons.

Should you have any questions for me about the course, feel free to contact me at jwparksgolf@myfairpoint.net . Look forward to seeing all of you at the course.
